GiveLink text messaging program
How donors give consent to receive text messages through GiveLink, what they receive, and how to stop.
GiveLink is a donation platform used by nonprofits. Datawake Partners LLC operates GiveLink and its text messaging on behalf of the nonprofits that use it. Donors are only texted after they have opted in for a specific nonprofit; a nonprofit never receives a donor's number for texting without that consent.
How consent is collected
Consent is collected on the nonprofit's GiveLink donation form or in the donor's GiveLink preferences page. The checkbox is unchecked by default, names the nonprofit, and sits next to the mobile number field. The exact wording and version shown are stored with the donor's record.
Mobile number is optional. Leaving this box unchecked never affects the donation.
What donors receive
- Receipt and thank-you messages after a gift, sent for the nonprofit the donor opted in to.
- Notices about a recurring gift, such as a payment that could not be processed.
- Reminders about an event the donor registered for.
- Replies to a donor's own STOP or HELP message.
GiveLink does not send bulk marketing campaigns, does not sell or share numbers, and does not text donors on behalf of a nonprofit they have not opted in to.
